In 2019, resources provided by MRN to the FIA assisted 2,370 children and adolescents in Oriximiná, 730 in Óbidos and 852 in Faro.
The fund is intended for standardizing, implementing and enforcing policies to secure the rights of children and adolescents. Thus, the FIA is fundamental to reduce the existing contrasts between social classes, thus helping promote equal opportunities.
The amount raised by the Fund complements the budgetary resources that legally should be directed primarily to serving children and adolescents.
The extra funds allow for the expansion of programs, services and goals and for promoting the improvement of the existing service structure.
The actions we support seek to train and qualify new professionals for acting, music, in addition to developing exhibitions, saraus and other activities that place young people at the center of artistic creation, and not just as mere observers.
Moreover, these are necessary actions for the preservation and dissemination of the Brazilian cultural heritage, especially that in the region. They also encourage community integration and greater civic participation.
Investment in local culture also contributes to economic development through innovation in creative economy projects and job creation.
Through the Culture Incentive Act, we sponsor cultural actions in the municipalities of Terra Santa, Faro, Óbidos and Oriximiná. Free events, open to the public, that benefit the entire population.
Projects supported in 2019:
- Circuito de Cultura (Culture Circuit) - Promoted by Uirapuru Comunicação - R$75 thousand in MRN sponsorship. The project is intended for developing the cultural identity of Quilombola communities through free-of-cherge training and cultural actions that promote reflection and dissemination of black culture. It is held both in Oriximiná city and in the Quilombola communities. The program includes workshops on the making of drums, percussion, choral singing, in addition to lectures, Quilombola meetings and festivals.

The project involves a number of cultural manifestations of the Alto Trombetas region, with emphasis on the cities of Faro, Terra Santa and Óbidos. It appreciates local talents, contributes to the promotion of cultural production and preserves local traditions. The program includes workshops, presentations and events on themes involving social media, event production, folk dancing, musical practice and creativity.
Sports, culture and protection to the rights of children and adolescents.
Through federal and state tax waiver laws, MRN transfers resources that support the social development of the region, thus valuing the identity and talent of the local population.
Reconcile sports practice and studies to educate more conscientious citizens. This is the purpose of the Sports in Town Project, which since 2010 has provided free sports initiation classes in indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball, handball and field soccer to 500 children and adolescents, aged 7 to 17, from the municipalities of Oriximiná and Terra Santa.
Developed by the Peito Aberto Social Organization and sponsored by MRN through the Federal Sports Incentive Act, the project also has the support of the Esporte Clube Mineração (MEC) and the City Council of Terra Santa. "The goal is to provide an opportunity for the healthy practice of sports, under the guidance of qualified professionals, at no cost for the participants, in addition to focusing on respect, discipline in sports and in studies, socialization and coexistence," says Leonardo Costa Matos Borges, technical coordinator of the Pará division of the project.
Every year, MRN allocates an amount corresponding to 1% of its income tax for this action.
